Since 2012 Coakley Brothers has assembled a team to participate in the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb Milwaukee. The Fight for Air Climb is a fundraiser to fight lung disease. Teams are assembled and work to collect donation. The event culminates in March each year where the teams climb the 47 floors inside the US Bank Building. The event is the largest of its type in the country and has annually raised between $500,000 and $800,000. The team feels a strong obligation to support the cause. Many of the team members have had family or friends that have been afflicted with lung disease and feel very strongly about the cause. Each team member must raise a minimum of $100 to support the cause however that goal has always been exceeded. To date the team along with corporate sponsorships have raised nearly $20,000. The Coakley Brothers team has reached out and solicited cash donations but has also held an annual breakfast and bake sale. In 2017 the Coakley Brothers team added a very successful chili cook off that raised over $500. The teams hopes to keep what has now become a tradition going and raise even more money than before.
